Self Defense - a missing part of fitness

 An important overlooked skill today by most people is the ability to defend themselves. Most people don't even think about it till something goes wrong or a situation forces them to think seriously about it.

I have always been one to say do meaningful and worthwhile things 'in the event of.' That is the whole reason a country has an army, businesses have reserves and contingency plans and also why you have a savings account. Just be ready for it. Its a skill that is needed for a dangerous world.

Fathers, would you be able to protect your families should anything happen?
Ladies, would you be able to handle a situation if you were faced with harassment?

You have to remember your hard work, health or even life is on the line. Don't just take some martial arts class in this regard. Go to a martial arts class that teaches you reality based defenses.

I have been an avid krav maga fan. However my appeal in writing this post is not to get you to buy into a krav maga class. Its just that I have found Krav Maga to be the system that takes the least time to learn and prepares you for real situations. You don't spend years in knowing how to make your first effective strike. You learn then and there. The system was created for the Israeli army to be ready to go in about 20 hours. I would say it worked pretty well. Special force units all around the world use it. . If you are interested in learning or getting a feel for it you can check out this link.
